Michelle was elected as the Mayor of Colburn Town Council at the Annual meeting  on 20th May 2024.

Michelle will stand as Mayor until May 2025.

Michelle was Co opted onto the Colburn Town Council on Monday 16th March 2020 . She  is originally from Catterick Village, but has lived in Colburn since 2014 and now lives on Colburn Lane with her husband and young son.  She takes pride in living in Colburn and being part of the wonderful community and you'll often see her taking part in the community litter picks. Having worked for 13 years supporting Service Leavers in their transition from Military to Civilian life, she took a career break to have and bring up their son.  Michelle now works part time as an administrator in Richmond.  She looks forward to working with the Town Council and the community.

Akuila was elected as Deputy Mayor of Colburn Town Council at the Annual meeting on Monday 20th May 2024.  Akuila will stand as Deputy until May 2025.

Akuila is a Ship builder by trade and is of Fijian ethnicity. Akuila arrived in the UK in 2002 to pursue a career in the Royal Marines. He was medically discharged from the Royal Marines in 2004.  Akuila is married with two young children and relocated to Marne Barracks.  as an accompanying spouse in 2006. The family subsequently bought a house and relocated to Colburn during 2009 and still reside in the same house today.

During his time in the local area, through to 2008, Akuila worked at the local Co-op and the Jet Garage as a shop assistant.  He has for the last 12 years worked for a local Engineering company  International Pipeline Products Ltd.(Inpipe Products).  They are based in nearby Brompton on Swale.  Having commenced employment with Inpipe Products as a general production operative, through hard work, a willingness to learn, train and develop his knowledge, skills and flexibility he as worked his way up and achieved the status of head of the Pig Signaller manufacturing department.

Colin was co-opted on to the Council on Monday 15th June 2020.    Colburn has been Colin's residence for over 50 years, He attended both local schools, married and raised a family here and have seen Colburn evolve into what it is today.  Colin is now semi retired, having spent a career in hospitably, Quality Assurance & Business Management.  He has worked for the Ministry of Defence, County Hall in Northallerton and still works part time at Bedale High School as part of the site team. He has also worked for a local home care company focussing on elderly clients with Alzhiemer's & Dememtia.   Colin now works in a voluntary capacity at Kiplin Hall as a Room Steward.   His spare time is spent researching Family Histories and writing their back stories.  He has a passion for architecture, loves history and the arts & enjoys spending time with his family.  Colin believes he has a wide and varied skillset that would benefit the community.

Andrea was born in the small local village of Hunton.  She moved to Colburn in 1988.  After several moves and locations she finally bought a house in Colburn in 2008.  Andrea has a Daughter and a Son and 5 grandchildren of who she absolutely adores.  In her former time living  in Colburn, she was a member of both the mens and womens darts teams, the school PTA committee, a classroom volunteer and a dinner lady.

She was  a member of the Colburn Amatuer Dramatics, a Village Hall committee member and Brown Owl to the Colburn Brownie Pack.  She was also a Councillor and had the honour of being the Deputy Mayor during her time on the Council.

After being away from the area since 2012, Andrea has returned to her house in Colburn and has re joined the Amateur dramactics society and indeed the Colburn Town Council.  She is looking forward to been an active member especially on the Open Spaces committee and the Colburn in Bloom project.  She has been a Grounds Maintenance Operative with Northallerton Town Council since 2008 and has gained many qualifications and licences including tree felling, which is one of her proudest life achievements.  I am hoping to put my knowledge to good use and look forward been an active member of the Council.

Angie was born in the Old Military Hospital , she is Colburn born and bred and has lived and worked in the community all her life apart from the 7 years she served in the Army . She lives with her husband and has 3 lovely children. Angie joined the Town Council in 2004, she has served five terms as Mayor of Colburn and has been involved in various Community groups ever since.

She is the Chair of Governors at Colburn Community Primary School, She is the treasurer and bookings clerk of the Village Hall. Also Angie is a member of the new WI and the secretary. She enjoys been a member of the local craft club, Amateur Dramatics also Hanson Sports & Social club and volunteers at the drop and mother and toddler groups as well she is a very busy lady. She is very passionate and dedicated to the growing community, and always has the best interest of Colburn at heart.

Miles became a Colburn Town Councillor in November 2020.  He is now an active member of the Open Spaces committee on the Council.

Miles was born in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, He was educated at Elland Grammer School then served in the Armed Forces for 23 years in personnel and administrative roles before settling down in Colburn. He then worked as an Executive Officer in the MOD for 21 years before retiring in 2014.  Miles was the secretary of the Civil Service Club from 1997 -2010. He is currently the Chair of the Colburn Leek Club and is a keen angler and a lifetime supporter of Huddersfield Town Football Club and also the Huddesfield Giants Rugby League Club.

Prior to been a Colburn Councillor Jag was a councillor for Scotton, he became a Councillor for Colburn in January 2013.  He was Mayor in 2019/20 & Deputy Mayor 2014/15 .  Originally from Nepal, Jag studied and worked in Australia and Nepal prior to moving to the UK in 2001 where he was employed by NHS. Jag holds a PhD degree in musculoskeletal injury management and is a lead researcher for musculoskeletal injury management at Infantry training Centre, having published many research papers and presented them at conferences. Currently, He works at the Infantry Training Centre Catterick as a superintendent in rehabilitation department and also a reservist RAMC army officer.

During his career, he has experienced life and work in various countries all of which has enabled him to understand and represent a diverse range of people. Jag is proud of his key strengths: Integrity, commitment and hard work. Family and friends have encouraged him to sacrifice time and resources for the benefit of our community selflessly. Being in Catterick since 2003 has allowed him to not only make this area his home but also to feel part of the community, because without a community there is no home.

He is proactively involved in community work, as Integration and community cohesion can only be successful if it is built upon the foundations of regular community work and understanding of other cultures. Jag believes in people first and will always do his best to support local people. He is also adviser of BGNC, Parbat Welfare Society and Chairman Himalayan-Dales Multicultural Hub.

Rupert has lived in Colburn since 1994.  He joined the Town Council in May 2022, he is a retired university lecturer and part time farmer.  Rupert is married with three grown up children and four grandchildren. He is interested in local and natural history. He is proud to be a Colburn dweller and hopes to contribute to continue making Colburn a great place to live, and particularly to seeing what can be done locally in the context of the climate and nature crisis.

Paul was born and lived in Darlington until he moved to attend university in Nottingham.  He has worked in various roles which have ranged from farmworker to coaching sports at a Preparatory School in the North East. Paul has worked in the area since 2006 but have had a link to Colburn for many years prior to this, as my best friends parent's used to own the pool table in the Scorpion and we would maintain it.  

He moved to Colburn in 2012,  Paul is married and his wife has lived here all of her life.  They have 3 boys all of which have been/ are taught at Colburn Primary School.  Currently Paul is the production manager at a local engineering company, a position he has held since 2011.  Since joining the Town Council Paul has also taken on a trustee role at CCSC for the running of Colburn Leisure Centre.  Paul is an active member of the community.

Karen moved to Catterick Garrison with her family in 1986, when she was 16.  Her Father served in the military for 22 years. Upon leaving the army, the family set up two businesses, a pet shop and a fishing tackle shop in Richmond prior to setting up their market stalls.

She met her husband in 2001, he is from a local farming family, and they went on to have 5 children who's ages range from 6 to 20 years old.  Their youngest three children all attend Colburn Primary School.  In the past Karen has volunteered at the St John's assisted shopping scheme and at Brompton on Swale primary school during her teaching assistant training.

Currently she volunteers at the Colburn Community Hub, helping run the Foodshare as well as being a member of the Colburn Primary School PTFA.  Both roles which Karen enjoys immensely.

In her spare time, She enjoys craft activities and runs online decoupage training courses via Facebook.  Karen looks forward to serving the community in her new role as a Colburn Town Councillor.

Wayne was co-opted to the Town Council in June 2023 having previously served as a councillor.  He was born and raised in Leeds and left school at 16 with 7 O levels and planned to join the police.  Whilst waiting for a take-on date, my head was turned by the prospect of becoming a paramedic in the Army.  23 years later, I left the Army with a full pension and a fantastic career behind me.  I have held positions since leaving the forces of PC World Manager, IT Consultant, CCTV Operator and First Aid Instructor.  Whilst I was a CCTV operator, I received an award of Merit from North Yorkshire Police for outstanding work, an award rarely given to civilians.

I moved to Catterick Garrison to settle in 2018 with my wife Karen.  We have two boxers and Karen works as a Chef for a Nursing Home.

Council Employees

Philippa became Colburn Town Clerk in February 2004, having previously worked as administrator for The Millings Residential home in Bedale. Philippa moved to North Yorkshire in 2000 from Colchester where she worked at Colchester Institute & Essex University for 10 years. She is a very keen Horse rider and owner.

Angie became the Deputy Town Clerk in March 2015, having previously worked at Printers in Richmond for many years till its closure in 2011. She has 2 children  and 3 grandchildren. Angie is very passionate about Colburn as it’s where she grew up and still lives. She loves gardening and DIY projects . Angie and her husband have recently learnt to dance and now goes dancing regularly in Colburn Village Hall and very much enjoy it..
